The Farley blog

Not only do we love what we do, we also love to talk about it! Here are some of the news, views and reviews that we just couldn’t keep to ourselves.

Wedding fever takes over at The Langham Hotel

The Farley space at The Quintessentially Wedding Atelier

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue…..the recent Quintessentially Atelier had it all and then some! We had the pleasure of taking part in the exclusive Quintessentially Wedding Atelier on the 1st and 2nd of April, set in the grand ballroom at The Langham Hotel London.

‘Putting On The Glitz’ at the BFDG 70th Annual Celebration and Awards Dinner

We had the pleasure of attending the 70th Annual British Film Designers Guild awards last Saturday in the prestigious surroundings of Pinewood Studios. And what a night it was. The venue looked suitably glittering and in keeping with the ‘Putting on the glitz’ theme. The red carpet had been rolled out for the equally glitzy guests who were almost unrecognisable in their black tie suits and gowns (a world away from our on set and office attire).

Our visit to the Sir John Soane’s Museum; A must see!

Amongst all of the amazing places to visit in London, there’s one that needs to go straight to the top of your MUST see list and that’s the Sir John Soane’s Museum. We absolutely detest the over used clichés like ‘treasure trove’ and ‘Aladdin’s cave’ but these are most definitely what sprang to mind when we visited last week.

The Joe Farley Award at the NFTS : Our winner for 2016, Rosalind Gregoire

And the winner is…..
Another year and another class of talented Production Design students are making their mark at the National Film and TV School and Francesca and I had the very great pleasure in meeting them last week at the annual Joe Farley Award judging. After only five months on the course, the first year students begin the ten week fantasy project that is submitted for judging. It’s hard to believe that some of them are completely new to technical drawings, drafting and model making as the work is of such a high standard. We are always suitably impressed and this year was no exception, in fact, we think the standard is getting better each year.

Doing it for the girls : Farley judge Best Production Design at the Underwire Festival

The much coveted Underwire Festival 2016 award

This past Saturday I had the great pleasure in presenting the award for Best Production Design at the Underwire Festival. The event took place at the achingly cool Genesis Cinema on Mile End Road and brought together all of the female filmmakers and their crew, friends, family and fellow industry professionals to celebrate their work and award the winner in each category. There were awards from everything from Best Animation, Best Writer and Best Director but the one that we are very proud to sponsor was the Production Design award.

How to get the most from our stock search, and other features on our website.

A still of the Farley Prop Hire homepage

Welcome to the Farley website!  We’d like to think that we’ve created a intuitive and user friendly website but there’s never any harm in giving a few extra pointers here and there so that you can really get the most out of the site. There are some great features and we’d hate for you to miss them so here’s a quick guide to the most important ones.
